The process of overall development is based on holistic approach and adequate health care. Since last four decades, MANAVLOK has conducted different health related activities like,many types of free health awareness camps through mobile clinic, awareness and trainings at village level on sanitation programs, nanny training for door step service, nutrition programs for children and women, diagnostics camps/acupuncture, gynecology camps, preventive treatment of night blindness, conducting cataract operations and spectacles distribution,cancer detection camps, orthopedic camps and operations, tubo-plasty operations, treatment for DOT, psychiatric and physiotherapy treatment, providing support for heart surgery, ambulance support for serious patients,distribution of hearing aids/ear machines, pathology labservice, support to handicapped and senior citizens, paraplegic center, help for serious patients, providingclean drinking water facilities, primary health care system etc.
Presently MANAVLOK is rendering following services.
Directly observed treatment or DOT is the name given to the tuberculosis (TB) control strategy recommended by the World Health Organization. According to WHO, "The most cost-effective way to stop the spread of TB in communities with a high incidence is by curing it. MANAVLOK is implementing this programme since 2003. Since inception of the project there are 385+ TB patients benefited under this programme. We also conducted several meetings cum awareness programs regarding this in 41+ villages like rally, role play, poster exhibitions etc.
B) CBMP (Community Based Monitoring & Planning)
MANAVLOK has been selected for Beed District as a Nodal NGO and block organization of Ambajogai block for CBMP. This activity is being implemented in 50+ villages of Beed district. Under this project, we organise several meetings, workshops, training, and awareness for different categories. District Monitoring and Planning Committee formed and different problems regarding health services were put before higher authorities of Ambajogai and Beed District. A workshop organized for different organizations and staffs of health department. Workshop arranged for people’s representatives, five meetings conducted with the workers of block co-ordination NGO’s for review of activities and planning. A training and awareness programme conducted for villagers. Nutrition and water supply committees extended and the training was given to them. Progress report of primary health centers were prepared and displayed in the respective primary health centers.
C) Jaipur Foot Camps: Camp of Fitting Artificial Limbs
Clear social vision and commitment to help the disabled regain mobility and dignity by fitting high-quality, durable artificial limbs and other aids and appliances — all free of charge. In order to build confidence in physically disabled people and ease in their life, MANAVLOKin collaboration with “Sadhu Vasavani, Mission” Pune,is organizing this camp periodically and so far this opportunity has benefited hundreds of people. These artificial organs are extremely easy to use.
D) Capacity Building Workshops/Awareness Programs
Since beginning, MANAVLOK is organizing capacity building workshops/awareness programs for TB, Aids, Polio, Anemia, Cancer etc. Health education program is being implemented for teenage girls in urban and rural areas of Ambajogai taluka. Under this initiative, guidance is given on the subject of physical and mental change, diet, organ donation and their work, menstrual cycle, etc. of adolescent/teenage girls coming to their age.
E) Hemodialysis & Sonography Machine Unit
MANAVLOK has installed two hemodialysisand one color Doppler sonography machines at SwamiRamanand Tirth Rural Govt. Medical College and Hospital Ambajogai. As there was no such facility available at the hospital, this activity proved beneficial to thepeople from rural as well as urban areas of Beed district.Daily 125-150 patients are benefited because of sonography machine andwithin six months of installation, more than 16,000 patients have been recorded who were benefited through this activity.
