The objective is to excavate the silt from the dried dams using earth moving machinery and spread it over nearby farms. The activity increases the water holding capacity of the dried dams, meanwhile also enhancing the soil fertility of the farmlands. We have been implementing dam desilting pilots since 2016 and have desilted more than 50 dams. More than four million cubic meters of silt from 6 districts and 14 blocks of Marathwada have been excavated.
