Started in the Marathwada Region of Maharashtra in 1985, this centre provides free legal aid and counselling to all survivor needy women. Her need to stand independently with all the honor of individuality is taken care of through a tender process of psychological and moral support. Manaswini acts as a counselor between the woman and her family to support her self-esteem and self-confidence. Manaswini is aware that in patriarchal society, a number of unjust customs and traditions have been created to restrain the individuality of women for thousands of years. Women have been deprived of their right to self-sufficiency and capacitation towards development due to their materialistic approach towards them. Ironically, women have been victimized by the customs in their own families, even more than outside of society, as has been found through research. Many women have even lost their lives due to domestic violence, particularly at their in-laws. More than 8500 women have taken actual benefit of it so far and received matrimonial maintenance of court orders costing more than one and a half crore. through the legal processes, along with their right to property, land and agriculture. Recently, one more counselling centre was opened in Dharur Block on July 24, 2019, as a commemoration of the late Dr. Shaila Lohiya, the founder of Manaswini.
